About
I studied MIS at Florida State. During my studies there, I realized that I wasn’t learning all of the useful skills I needed to become a developer or a skilled IT person. So, I went out looking for an internship/job in the IT field. I landed a paid (
) internship with a local publishing company in town.
I was not familiar with any of the languages the IT department was developing in. After a few months, I was rolling along with ASP and SQL. That was about two years ago. Now, I have a full-time developer position at the same company that gave me my start. We’re moving onto ASP.NET. I’m working on learning C# and MVP for work.
On the side, I’m trying to broaden my horizons with open source technologies. I’ve set up my netbook with Ubuntu, so I can learn Linux. I am making my own website in PHP with a MySQL database, a side project in Joomla, and another side project working with Ruby on Rails. I’m also trying to brush up on Javascript and CSS. I’m not much of a designer though.
